YOU WERE NEVER TOO MUCH

The voice that says you're too much is lying — you were never a burden, you were just carrying too much alone.

You typed it out. The message. The one that said hey, I'm not okay. Your thumb hovered over send.

Then you deleted it. Every word. Because a voice in your head said the thing it always says: don't bother them. They've got their own stuff. You'll just be weight they didn't ask to carry.

So you put the phone down. And you carried it alone. Again.

Here's what that voice never tells you: it's lying.

You are not too much. You've just been holding too much, for too long, by yourself. There's a difference, and it matters. A person drowning isn't too much — they're underwater. The weight was never the problem. The problem was that nobody knew they were going under.

You're not a burden for having a heavy day. You're human for surviving it.

That story — that needing something makes you a problem — didn't come from nowhere. Someone taught it to you once. Maybe a lot of someones. So you learned to shrink, to say I'm fine, to handle it quietly so no one else would have to. You got so good at it that now even you believe you're supposed to be alone with this.

But think about the people you love. When they're the ones struggling, do you resent them for it? Or do you wish, quietly, that they'd just let you in?

They wish the same for you. The ones who actually love you don't feel your honesty as a burden — they feel it as trust. You're not asking them to carry you. You're letting them stand next to you while you carry it. That's what they were always there for.

So send it this time. Text the friend. Tell the one person who's earned it: I'm having a hard day. If tonight feels heavier than a message can hold, reach out to someone you trust or a local support line — not because you're broken, but because you were never meant to hold this by yourself. And if you can't say it out loud yet, write it down — even on the journal wall, where it's held without judgment.

You've spent so long being strong for everyone else. Let someone be gentle with you for once.

You were never too much. You were just never meant to carry it alone.

You are not alone. Keep moving forward.
