YOU'RE ALWAYS THE ONE WHO REACHES OUT

You're the one who always texts first and checks in — quietly wondering whether anyone would reach back if you ever went quiet.

You're the one who texts first. Every time.

You're the one who remembers the birthdays, checks in after the hard week, sends the "you good?" message into the silence. You hold the group together with both hands and hope nobody notices how tired your arms are getting.

And somewhere in the quiet, a thought creeps in: if I stopped reaching, would anyone reach back?

That question can hollow you out. You start keeping a score you never wanted to keep. You wonder if you're loved or just convenient. You wonder if the silence means what your worst days say it means.

Let's be honest about the ache first. It hurts to be the one who always initiates. It hurts to feel like the connection only exists because you keep building it. That loneliness is real, and pretending it isn't won't make it any lighter.

But hear this too.

The people who don't reach first aren't always the people who don't care. Some of them are drowning in their own quiet, sure that you're the strong one who never needs checking on. Some just aren't wired the way you are. Their silence is rarely the verdict your mind turns it into.

Being the one who reaches out isn't proof you're unloved. It's proof you know how to love.

That instinct in you — to show up, to check in, to close the distance — that isn't weakness. It's one of the rarest things a person can be. Don't let the exhaustion convince you it's a flaw.

And still — you are allowed to be reached, too.

You don't have to earn care by giving it first every single time. Let someone in this week. Tell one person the truth: I've been holding this together, and I'm tired. The right people don't want your silence. They want to know you needed them.

You are not convenient. You are not too much for needing something back. You keep love alive in the rooms you walk into — and you deserve to feel it flow back toward you.

So reach out again if you need to. But this time, let it be for you. Leave a line on the journal wall if the words won't come out loud yet — somebody there knows exactly how this feels.

The phone doesn't measure your worth. The silence doesn't get the final say.

You are not alone. Keep moving forward.
